The Post
USAG Humphreys' official mission is to "provide and integrate community services, facilities, and infrastructure for Service Members, Civilian Employees and their Family members while supporting modernization efforts to enable tenant units to 'Fight Tonight.'" That tenant list is the largest of any Army garrison in the Pacific: United States Forces Korea headquarters, Eighth Army headquarters, the 2nd Infantry Division / ROK-U.S. Combined Division, the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade — the Army's most active airfield in the Pacific — and Brian D. Allgood Army Community Hospital.
The scale is the story. Under the Land Partnership Plan, tens of thousands of soldiers, civilians, and family members relocated here from Yongsan Garrison in Seoul and Camp Casey to the north, and the installation grew to roughly 3,454 acres to hold them — the largest U.S. military footprint anywhere outside the continental United States.
Unlike the unaccompanied northern camps this relocation drew down, Humphreys is a genuine accompanied-family post: on-post housing, DoDEA schools, and a Pyeongtaek host-nation community built around a permanent, multi-year military presence.
